You’ll start your tour with a tranquile 30 min. drive along the coast to the waterfront village of Egmont. Here you’ll join Sunshine Coast Tours aboard their comfortable tour boat (with seated cabin) and head north-east along Jervis Inlet. You’ll pass stunning geological formations, while the Captain regales you with stories of the early explorers and settlers, and the history of the indigenous people, the Shishálh.
“The Princess” is one of only a few examples of a true fjord on the Pacific coast. You’ll cruise by mile high sheer cliffs that rise from the placid waters of the inlet, teeming with dozens of waterfalls during spells of wet weather. At the head of the inlet, you’ll witness aptly named Chatterbox Falls, which gathers waters from the snowfields and mountain meadows above to cascade into the Inlet.
On your return to Egmont, you’ll have a chance to grab a coffee or a cold drink at the Back Eddy Pub. And of course your trip is not complete without a visit to the Egmont Heritage Centre. It was built to tell the history of the area, with an emphasis on logging and fishing. Here you’ll see collections of Vivian and Easthope engines, antique bottles, depression era glass, outdoor displays and of course, a gift shop and (fortunately) a restroom.
Thirty-five minutes later you’re back in Madeira Park sitting on “The Grasshopper’s” patio, enjoying some of their excellent cuisine.
….and on your return to your B&B, relax in the luxurious Beachcomber hot tub with a glass of wine and enjoy the sunset over Pender Harbour! Ahhhh! What a day!
